Geriatric Challenges 2009 "This two day course will enable participants to update their clinical knowledge and skills in such areas as hospital-based and community-based geriatric care. Topics such as oral health, evidence-based medicine, pain management, acute geriatric medicine, cost of aging and much more will be covered over the course of the two days. Delegates will also have the opportunity to view exhibits throughout the conference. This course is designed to be interactive with key note speakers and workshops, covering some of the challenging and controversial areas in the practical clinical management of geriatric patients. British Geriatrics Society Autumn Meeting "The meeting combines a wide variety of essential clinical updates and symposia and this year has a greater focus on original research presented in plenary sessions. International Forum on Ageing in Place and Age Friendly Cities "The International Forum on Ageing in Place and Age Friendly Cities is convened by the IFA and hosted by FOIFA in collaboration with several prestigious Japanese NGOs including the Japan National Council on Ageing (JANCA), the Women’s Association for Better Ageing Society (WABAS) and the Health C-operative Union (HCA). The international collaborator for the forum is the Hong Kong Council on Social Service (HKCSS), Hong Kong, SAR. The two day forum offers an array of education and networking opportunities that will bring alive the themes of: 1. Models of Ageing in Place: what are the key elements in successful policy and practice? 2. Age Friendly Cities: the initiatives of enabling and supportive environment. 3. Technology: its application in ageing in place and age friendly cities These three themes will be explored in plenary panels, workshops and round table discussions. The program committee invites papers for oral presentations from all levels of government, non-government organizations, business sector, civil society and academia."
